About Me
Hello! I'm Brian Bentancourt, a Tech Lead and software architect with over ten years in the industry. Today I own the architecture of five enterprise systems in production and lead the team that builds them: I define the engineering standards, drive the modernisation of legacy platforms toward .NET 8, and I'm the one who responds when something breaks in systems that cannot stop running.
I came to technical leadership through code, and I still write it. That path — from full stack developer to architecture owner — is what lets me make design decisions the team can actually sustain over time, not just defend on a whiteboard. I'm drawn to the genuinely hard problems: migrating critical systems without interrupting operations, making legacy and modern coexist, and leaving documentation that outlives team turnover.
Alongside that I run my own freelance projects, where I experiment with newer stacks and stay in direct contact with clients and their businesses. When I'm not coding, you'll find me following what's happening in AI, or enjoying time with family and friends.

Enterprise Systems
As Tech Lead I own the architecture of five enterprise systems that operate as a single platform: they share a stack (.NET 8 + SPA + SQL Server), a central identity provider, and the engineering standards I defined for the team. All of them run in production with real users.
For confidentiality reasons these systems are described at the level of architecture, stack and responsibilities — without identifying organisations or implementation details.
Public safety · Mission critical
An end-to-end platform for real-time management of events, alerts and emergencies. It centralises, in a single operator interface, the intake of alerts from multiple sources (video, audio, analytics, radio and telephony), the dispatch and tracking of field resources, and full audit of the incident lifecycle. It is a .NET desktop ecosystem surrounded by a constellation of integration services and background processes, running continuously.
My contribution
- I lead the architecture and the modernisation strategy toward .NET 8, migrating services incrementally with fallback to the previous system and config-driven activation, so operations are never interrupted.
- I defined the cross-cutting engineering standards for the ecosystem — centralised JWT authentication, data-connection conventions, mandatory per-component documentation — now adopted across the team.
- I designed the contingency scheme that keeps the system operating against a local embedded database when the central database becomes unavailable.
- I lead production incident diagnosis over datasets in the millions of records, driving root-cause analysis and permanent fixes rather than workarounds.
Stack: .NET 8, C#, ASP.NET Core, WPF, .NET Framework, SQL Server, SignalR, Entity Framework, SQLite, Arquitectura distribuida
Mobility · Field operations
A mobile solution for field agents: starting and managing patrols, continuously streaming GPS position back to the control centre, two-way messaging, handling events during a shift, and push notifications. It is complemented by a REST API and a web panel for tracking and route planning.
My contribution
- I built and led the React Native + Expo app (TypeScript), solving background GPS tracking with careful handling of battery consumption and OS-imposed lifecycle constraints.
- I designed the client-server synchronisation model with caching and retries, so the app remains usable under the intermittent connectivity of field work.
- I implemented the ASP.NET Core REST API and the data model for patrols, zones, route templates and role-based permissions.
- I instrumented production observability — crash reporting and performance metrics — to diagnose incidents on users' real devices.
Stack: React Native, Expo, TypeScript, ASP.NET Core, SQL Server, Firebase Cloud Messaging, React Query, Recoil, GPS / Geolocalización
Asset management · Operations & maintenance
A web system managing the full lifecycle of field-deployed infrastructure assets: inventory and assignment traceability, sites and installation positions, scheduled preventive maintenance, contracts with their stages and renewals, an end-to-end billing workflow, and audit and inventory reporting. It includes a geospatial viewer for sites and zones.
My contribution
- I defined the system's full architecture: a React SPA over an ASP.NET Core .NET 8 REST API and SQL Server.
- I implemented the security model: first-party JWT authentication, corporate directory integration over LDAP, and multi-factor authentication.
- I designed the granular role and permission scheme (RBAC) governing access per module and per action.
- I integrated the system with the corporate ticketing platform to automatically raise and track maintenance work orders.
- I built the geospatial module with MapLibre and deck.gl to visualise sites, installation positions and risk zones on a map.
Stack: React 18, TypeScript, MUI, .NET 8, ASP.NET Core, SQL Server, JWT, LDAP, MFA, MapLibre, deck.gl, RBAC
Sensor data · Reporting
A web platform for querying and reporting over large volumes of readings captured by field sensors: multi-criteria search, visualisation of the captures attached to each reading, and administration of users, roles and permissions. Its architecture is deliberately hybrid: a modern frontend and API coexisting with legacy SOAP services and third-party databases.
My contribution
- I led the platform's renewal: an Angular SPA served by an ASP.NET Core host, backed by a first-party REST API.
- I solved integration with pre-existing WCF services on .NET Framework and with third-party databases whose schema we did not control.
- I optimised queries over high-volume tables to keep multi-criteria search within acceptable response times.
- I modelled the users, roles and permissions schema with JWT authentication and LDAP integration.
Stack: Angular, TypeScript, ASP.NET Core, C#, SQL Server, WCF, JWT, LDAP
Media management · Access control
A platform for managing recordings: querying, administering and interacting with multimedia records through a modern web interface, with role-based access control over sensitive material.
My contribution
- I defined the client-server architecture: a React SPA with Material UI over an ASP.NET Core REST API.
- I implemented the authorisation layer restricting access to material based on the user's role and permissions.
- I established the project and documentation conventions, reusing the standards defined for the rest of the platform.
Stack: React, MUI, ASP.NET Core, C#, SQL Server, REST

Client Testimonials
My name is Agustín, and I work in men's aesthetics, specifically in hair and beard cutting. I've been in the field for about 5 years, and approximately 3 years ago, due to the pandemic, I was forced to organize my clientele. Until then, I worked on a first-come, first-served basis, often having 5 to 8 people waiting in the shop. I started using methods like WhatsApp reservations, but I still couldn't find a solution for order and efficiency, as I had to be attentive to the phone while serving clients. Thanks to Brian Bentancourt, I found the solution to my problem. He designed a web scheduling application through which clients can book themselves, allowing me to work peacefully without being tied to the phone. Today, a little over a year after the pandemic, I continue to work the same way, as the web application was very well received by clients and proved to be a solution for me, also being an innovation in my field.
As a review of the service Brian provides, I must say that in our case he managed a program that optimized our work and customer service. We improved in several areas thanks to the system! Brian's personal attention was always excellent too, solving doubts or correcting details as quickly as possible.
Having hired Brian's services has given us the ability to capture sales and manage our orders in the best possible way. We acquired these services at a difficult time for our company, where we managed them manually and archaically, leading to absurd delays, which clearly made us lose more customers. Thanks to the implementation of an IT system, extremely easy to use and with all the features we needed, today we manage our orders efficiently, obtaining better results and therefore more customers. I recommend everyone to hire Brian Bentancourt's services, excellent quality, professionalism, and a fair price!
